After graduating from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1975 he joined USA and Canada Institute (USSR Academy of Sciences) where he received his Doctors Degree in International economics four years later. In the next twelve years he gained considerable international knowledge and experience working for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Ministry of Foreign Relations in Russia and abroad, in different international organizations. In 2001- 2017 he worked as Under-Secretary General of a major International NGO (International Road Transport Union) in Moscow, Geneva and New York. Since 2018 he has been heading International Centre for Transport Diplomacy in New York - type two partnership (UN classification) focusing on educational /training projects and digitalization of the global supply chains ( collaborative project with IBM). During his professional carrier Dr. Igor Runov imitated and successfully implemented numerous projects in different parts of the world, including in cooperation with the UN (demining roads in Afghanistan), wrote a number of books and dozens of articles in International media on global economic problems, produced and directed several documentaries. He is an honorary member of different Academies and Societies.
