Ariel José Savarese, an Industrial Engineering graduate from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, completed a degree in Mathematics from Universidad Abierta Interamericana (UAI) in 2020. He participated in the UTN-DAAD exchange program in Germany in 2013, researching logistics in the Rhine Waterway. Upon returning to Argentina, he presented the "18-Month Plan for the Port of Barranqueras" in 2016, which contributed to the port's reactivation. In 2019, he presented his paper at Smart Rivers 2019, focusing on the role of Barranqueras in the Paraguay–Paraná Waterway. In 2022, he participated in the "Caspian Agro-Food" event in Azerbaijan and contributed to Smart Rivers with a paper on free zones and port growth. That year, he co-organized the successful international event "Building Bridges" in Baku and traveled across the Caspian Sea. His paper "Brief Description of the Caspian Region" was selected for presentation at the TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., in 2024. Currently, Mr. Savarese is the director of Empyria STM, a professor at UAI, and an active member of PIANC and TRB.
