Asset Assavbayev

Secretary General, Permanent Secretariat (PS) of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) TRACECA

Mr. Asset Assavbayev holds a degree from the Kazakh University of Traffic Ways (2006) and a Master’s in State and Municipal Administration from the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (2016). With over 18 years of experience in the transport sector, Mr. Assavbayev has held key roles in Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, including Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Transport Control Committee (2010-2014). From 2014 to 2019, he led the Transport Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development, overseeing transport policy, safety, and infrastructure. Before becoming TRACECA’s Secretary General in December 2019, Mr. Assavbayev was the President of the Association of Road Builders of Kazakhstan and an Independent Director at JSC «NC «KazAvtoZhol».
